This is an experimental reading seminar. Our goal is to read Reasoning About Knowledge by Fagin, Halpern, Moses, & Vardi. The seminar is experimental in that we will actually read the book in class. Each lecture there will be someone who leads the reading sessions by preparing questions to ask before the class start each session (~15 min) and after we end each session to discuss. The first couple of lectures will be lead by the intructor, and the students will sign up to lead later lectures.
There is no zoom, no recording, no homework (except for possible optional take-home reading), no exam, and no final project - our only goal is to read and understand the book. 50% of your grade will be based on participation, and the other 50% on the session(s) you lead. If you miss a lecture, you should read the part covered on your own; otherwise you will fall behind.
We are using ed for discussion and you can sign up with your ucla email here.
To sign up to lead reading sessions, use this link with your UCLA google account.
